In 1978 Tissot created a quartz model, which was characterized by a slim case, narrow indexes and a steel bracelet. Its wide, horizontal lug, which was typical of the time, was perfectly integrated into the flat, tonneau-shaped case. A few years later, Tissot registered the name PRX.''PR'' stands for ''precise'' and ''robust''. The ''X'' stands for the Roman number ten and for the pressure of 10 bar, which corresponds to a depth of 100 meters, up to which the watch remained waterproof. In 2021 Tissot presented the PRX 40 205, the numbers quoting the product number that the watch carried at the time. It's a modern take on the previous model. The 316L stainless steel case of the Tissot PRX 40 205 has a diameter of 40 mm. It has a slight tonneau shape and is adorned with a narrow, round bezel. On the sides, vertically brushed, rounded finishes alternate with polished facets. The Tissot PRX 40 205 Quartz has a satined, silver-gray dial with rose gold-colored indexes and hands - a color combination that is also reminiscent of the late 1970s. The lines of the case extend directly and without the use of the traditional horns in the bracelet. Its most striking feature is its row of large links that take up the entire width. Its flexibility and suppleness make it a real success of ergonomic design and convey an extraordinary wearing comfort. The satin finishing on the outside is carried out just as carefully as the polishing of the inner surfaces. The hands of the PRX 40 205 are provided with a SuperLumiNova coating and are placed on top of each other with only a very small gap. This allows the dial to be brought closer to the watch glass. The optical effect achieved by the Tissot designers makes the case of the watch appear even flatter and slimmer than it actually is. This version has a satined, silver-gray dial with indices and a 316L stainless steel bracelet with a butterfly folding clasp with push-buttons.
