With the Tissot Telemeter 1938, Tissot commemorates the beginnings of its history of sports timekeeping, which began that year as part of a Swiss ski race in Villars-sur-Ollon.
Visually inspired by the traditional chronograph that was used at the time, the Tissot Telemeter 1938 features a detailed vintage design with a historic logo and Arabic numerals. The two totalizers or sub-dials, which display the running seconds and the 30-minute chronograph counter, are framed by 3 scales: a tachymeter scale for measuring speed, a minute scale and a telemeter scale on the very outer edge. The latter is used to measure the distance from, for example, a thunderstorm whose lightning can already be seen before the thunder is heard.
The brushed and polished 316L stainless steel case with a diameter of 42 mm and domed, scratch-resistant sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating on both sides is also as classically elegant as the dial design. The shape of the chronograph pushers and the oversized, fluted crown are further reminiscences of the historic predecessor from 1938. The Tissot Telemeter 1938 is powered by the newly revised Swiss Made automatic movement Valjoux A05.231, which can be viewed through the glass case back, with a non-magnetic Nivachron balance spring and offers a power reserve of up to 68 hours. The rotor of the movement also features the Tissot Heritage logo.
This Tissot Telemeter 1938 model has a silver-colored dial with a contrasting red tachymeter scale, black numerals, blue hands and a blue telemeter scale. The watch has a matching dark brown leather strap with light contrast stitching and a butterfly clasp with pushers.
