Huge disappointment! Luckily, the clock is beautiful and at least performs its basic function (telling roughly the time). For the price, I expected a high-precision mechanism! I have to face the facts: the mechanism is temperamental. Despite all the adjustments to the pendulum weight, it never tells the correct time! So I have serious doubts: is this really a German clock or simply an assembly in Germany of parts machined in China? I have an old Russian alarm clock that does a much better job. If I had to do it again, I would never buy this model :(

Our comment: We don't believe your clock is defective. We'd like to explain why: Spring-driven clocks, by their very design, are such that the mainspring delivers its full power to the gear train immediately after winding, which then diminishes day by day. This alone results in variations in timekeeping, which can accumulate over the period until the clock is wound again. Therefore, some deviation in timekeeping is perfectly normal for these clocks. Furthermore, there are no technical specifications dictating how accurately such a clock "must" keep time! To achieve the most accurate timekeeping possible, you should observe the following: 1. Always wind the clock until you can feel it wind completely. 2. Always wind the clock on the same day of the week, for example, Sunday. 3. Only regulate your clock on this same day, i.e., once a week, or every two weeks for 14-day movements. 4. Do not regulate the clock during the week; you will not obtain reliable readings. 5. The clocks are roughly regulated at the factory. Precise regulation is only possible at the clock's location, as its accuracy depends on altitude. 6. The accuracy of a mechanical pendulum clock is always adjusted at the pendulum. The regulating nut allows you to adjust the pendulum bob upwards (the clock runs faster) or downwards (the clock runs slower). 7. It is recommended to first regulate the clock to run slower and then gradually increase its speed. 8. When turning the regulating nut downwards, ensure that the pendulum bob slides down and does not get stuck at the top. Regulation is achieved by moving the pendulum bob, not solely by turning the regulating nut! 9. After the change of seasons (summer/winter), the average temperature in the home typically changes. This results in a change in the clock's rate, requiring a slight adjustment.
