Milled depictions of the 12 signs of the zodiac on a pierced, polished rosette ronde. Milled calendar display of month and day. Tellurium rotating arm with hands and depiction of the sun, moon and earth.
The Tellurium shows the Earth's orbit around the Sun once in a year, with the Earth revolving around itself once every 24 hours. At the same time, the moon orbits the earth once every 29 1/2 days and rotates once on its own axis, so that the individual phases of the moon can be seen from the earth. The earth goes through the 12 signs of the zodiac, the months and days, which can be read on a flat dial.
